Love.

I have been wanting some Valentines decorations at my house so I went to a craft night from this website with my friend and made these:

A couple of days later I was inspired to make a Valentines decoration that reflected TRUE LOVE and PURE LOVE. Something that included the Savior. Something to remind my household that Valentines is more than chocolate and flowers and candy. So I had my husband cut a 2x6 3 1/3" wide, I painted it and modge podged paper and a missionary card from the distribution center on, added some ribbon and cut the word LOVE out of vinyl with my silhouette. And I love how it turned out. I hope it makes my family reflect a little the next couple of weeks on the one who layed down his life for his friends.:

And I decided to use that same idea as my Activity Days project and talk about the pure love of Christ for our first Feb. activity:

Activity Days Welcome.

I love my Activity Days calling. First off I love that its twice a month, and Second I LOVE that it allows me to use my creative side and do cute stuff :o) This year we have 12 new girls coming into Activity Days (including my sweet daughter which I am excited about) which will bump us up to a total of 31 girls ages 8-11!!! And the majority of them are active. We have 4 leaders and break them up by ages. I am in charge of the 8-9 year olds along with another leader. To welcome in all of the new 8 year olds this year I made up welcome cans for them and thought I would share.
I took infant formula cans and sent them through the dishwasher, then covered them with wrapping paper. Inside I put a faith in God book, a activity calendar, an articles of faith card, a scripture marking pencil, daughter of God stickers and a candy bar. I also printed up a letter explaining what Activity days is and letting them know how excited we are as girls and leaders that they are joining us.

Cookie of the Month Club

This year instead of giving my nieces and nephews a present or money for their birthdays I've decided to bake them cookies once a month for a whole year! I enrolled them in my own personal Cookie-Of-The-Month Club! My sweet little niece just turned three and to kick off my year long present I wrapped up a box of homemade banana cake cookies with cream cheese frosting and made a cookie card explaining to the family about their present. Check it out:

2011 Family Scripture Reading Quest!

I am so excited for Family Home Evening tonight because I get to unveil this! One of our family resolutions for the new year is to read more scriptures. So of course we need a challenge! I am challenging my family to climb Mt. Olympus (a local mountain where we live). This mountain is 9,026 feet tall (Not the tallest mountain out there but one I am hoping we can handle), each minute represents one foot, so as a family we need to read 9,026 minutes (150 1/2 hours) to reach the top!

This is the tracking chart. Each little square represents 10 minutes, each blue square represents an hour. If my calculations are correct once the whole sheet is filled we will reach the top! I am going to give us each a different color marker to fill in a square when we complete 10 minutes of scripture reading, this way we can track ourselves individually as well as a family. The goal is 10 minutes a day per person. And if we add in 10 minutes of family scripture study a day we will get there even faster!

This is the progress chart so we can actually visualize how far we are and how far we have to go. Each little marker represents 5 hours of reading. We need 150 1/2 hours to reach the top!

Our little family is ready to climb! Now I just need to figure out what AWESOME reward we are going to get!
